Overview:
The digital age has introduced two simple keystones ⌘C ⌘V that radically undermine and destabilise accepted paradigms of copyright, ownership, authorship, and originality.
This project explores the process of reframing / remixing / recontextualising from a ‘source’.
My chosen source was Ikea manuals, which resulted in a this parody approach.

Many memes have surfaced the internet on how Ikea manuals are overly complicated and are fairly hard to follow as they are filled with large body of texts, repeated instructions, and unclear illustrations.
Thinking about people with dyslexia/reading difficulties, instructions like these are even harder for them to follow, which is what sparked the concept of this project.
These distorted manuals are meant to represent the various ways dyslexic people may view them; overlayed text, blurry lines etc...
Taking the well-known “Ikea man”, I re-drew him holding a manual looking distressed, as many of us end up feeling after trying to build an Ikea item.
He later turned into the mascot of this project and was used to create the supporting poster.
I used translation of dyslexia in Swedish, “dyslexi”, using the same IKEA typeface to add a little more
humor.
